Belgium - East Flanders 10 days

It was always our intention that when we came across a campsite that had amenities and character suited to our needs, we would stay a few days, 10 days in this case! The site in question was the 'Domein Oos Vlaandere, Puyenbroeck' near Wachtebeke, a few miles from the Dutch border to its north.
Yes - there was also the matter of Joan needing some rest and more rest after coming off her bicycle when it skidded from under her on a gravel surface. Bruised rib and lower back vertebrae plus broken thumb was diagnosed at the local hospital, pain killers subscribed together with advice to rest and hopefully a speedy recovery will follow. Hence a few days becoming 10 days.
However, Puyenbroeck is a large conservation/recreation site with miles of cycle tracks, indoor pool, restaurant, gardens etc. Also outside of the enclosed area the countryside lends itself to extended cycling along canals and waterways.

I must admit that the 10 day lay up at this site greatly improved my cycling fitness levels. All shopping and visits to surrounding towns were done by bicycle, either carrying all in a small backpack or strapping it to the carrier. I felt like a local because this is how many of them go about their business.
