Sicily - Giardini Naxos, New Year's Eve

Into 2013 we are!

The New Year's eve get together in the garden of Camper Lagani was everything that could be expected of it. Everybody had received invites from the Director earlier in the day for the 23:30 countdown to midnight - and beyond!
There were once again eats and treats and no shortage of Champagne, with the Boss and staff from Camper Lagani making sure everyone has a good time. The clock on the BIG screen TV struck midnight and the party began with dancing, good wishes all round to everybody, at some stage a train was formed snaking its way through the palm tree garden and corks popping every now and then.

We were all handed sparklers before the hour and with much joy and laughter they were lit at midnight. Fireworks and loud bangs were going off in the neighbourhood and we could even see the display held in Taormina, the town on the hills above Giardini. A kaleidoscope of colours and sound!
Well there is also a twist in the tale. You see, midnight in Italy is not midnight in England, so some 'clever clogs' suggested that we need to stay up until 01:00 at least when the New Year arrives in England .... Oh dear.
Undeterred we were and we stayed up, sharing another cup of bubbly with Director and staff. And seeing as the night was still young we ended up in one of our group's motorhome - just to put a lid on it all! Thank you to our hosts for a wonderful couple of hours spent in their lovely motorhome, chatting and sharing in good company.
